Plastic bag bans are being enacted across the nation - with good reason. Bags litter our countrysides and our waterways, killing hundreds of thousands of marine animals every year and costing us millions of dollars in disposal costs. Unfortunately, paper bags are not much better. The loss of trees, the energy needed to produce the bags and the recycling costs continue to grow.
EarthSAKS was founded by Cheri Larson and Maureen Ford in 2008 after experiencing the need for a better reusable bag. We designed EarthSAKS because we wanted a stylish bag that was not only durable, but compact and easy-to-carry. Our mission is simple - to eliminate the use of plastic bags that fill our landfills and litter our countrysides. EarthSAKS eco-friendly reusable bags replace both paper and plastic bags, making a positive impact on our environment. We believe that even small changes can make a big difference.
What’s the answer? Reusable bags. Many stores across the nation have begun making reusable bags available to their customers and we applaud this move. To keep costs low, a number of inexpensive bags have been introduced into the market. While this is a step in the right direction, it’s not the complete answer. Most of these bags do not hold up to the weight of products purchased in a typical shopping trip. They tend to fall apart after a few uses and cause yet more waste.
